Sharing Proton VPN connection with Windows Hotspot clients​

  1. Lets say you have Proton VPN installed on your Windows machine and wants every client connected to your Mobile Hotspot to use this connection.

  2. Start the ProtonVPN and the Mobile Hotspot.

  3. Open the "Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections" ( Win + R > "ncpa.cpl")

  4. Locate the Mobile Hotspot adapter, could look something like:

    • "Local Connection 2"
      • Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter"

  5. Locate the Proton VPN network adapter, it's usually is something like:

    • ProtonVPN
      • ProtonVPN 2
      • WireGuard Tunnel (depending on your settings)

  6. Open the properties for the ProtonVPN adapter (right click > Properties > Sharing:

    • Internet Connection Sharing

      • Mark the option "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection Home network connection: [Select the adapter name from step 3 (Mobile Hotspot)]

    • Uncheck the option "Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection" just in case

TADA! It's done. Now every client connected to the windows shared wi-fi will be using the VPN IP.
